Melissa Davis is a local music educator, private studio owner, and founder of Davis Performing Arts Studio, where she leads a modern, integrative approach to music and arts education. Her work exists at the intersection of pedagogy, creativity, and human development—blending technical instruction with movement, environmental + community engagement, and authentic expression.

With experience across K–12 and collegiate settings, Melissa is known for designing learning environments that are both structured and deeply responsive to the individual and their unique goals and aspirations.

In addition to her private+small group studio work, Melissa serves as a professor at Graceland University, where she teaches and mentors future educators in designing engaging lesson enriched by the power of music. This role reflects her broader commitment to shaping not only students, but the next generation of teachers.

Her philosophy expands beyond traditional models of arts instruction by prioritizing embodiment, connection, and personal development alongside technical skill. Whether in the studio, in the classroom, or through nature-based programs and camps like "NATURE'S RHYTHM SUMMER CAMP", her work is intentionally designed to cultivate not only artistic ability, but confidence, agency, and a strong sense of belonging
inside this noisy world.

Melissa is currently advancing her work in music therapy, a path deeply informed by her experience as a mother. Her son, Harrison, who is on the autism spectrum, has been a profound catalyst in shaping her understanding of communication, regulation, and the transformative role music can play in connection and expression. This perspective continues to guide her work with a focus on emotional regulation, identity development, and relational connection.

She believes the arts are not simply something we learn—they are a powerful medium through which we understand ourselves and connect more deeply with others.
